After Your Surgery
You will be discharged once our medical staff is sure that you are alert and comfortable. They will provide you with written post-procedure instructions regarding diet, rest, exercise, and medication. Make sure that you understand them.
Since it is normal to feel dizzy, drowsy, or even nauseated for 12 to 24 hours after anesthesia, you should wait at least 24 hours after discharge to:
- Drive or operate equipment
- Sign any important papers or make any important decisions
- Drink alcoholic beverages
You must have someone drive you home. Don’t make any additional plans on the day of your procedure. All patients receiving sedation or anesthesia are advised to have someone stay with you for the first 24 hours. YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALONE.
Should you have any problems or concerns once you get home, do not hesitate to call your doctor. Do not take any medicine not prescribed or acknowledged by your surgeon or referring physician.
A member of our staff will call you at home the day after your procedure to check on you.
We encourage you to share your experience at Palms Wellington Surgical Center with us. Please take a few moments to complete and submit our Patient Survey.
