Day of Your Surgery
Please arrive at the center prior to your surgery as instructed to allow time for admitting. It is imperative that you arrive at the time requested by our staff and check in immediately with the receptionist. Bring photo identification and insurance cards, if applicable.
Please do not wear makeup or nail polish and leave your valuables and jewelry at home.
Bring cases for your glasses, contact lenses, and hearing aids.
We also suggest that you dress comfortably in casual, loose clothing and flat shoes.
Please be advised to protect all our patients' privacy, it is the policy of PWSC, that all electronic devices be powered down once you are brought into the pre-op area. These devices are to remain off until discharge.
After you are admitted, you will be escorted to the preoperative area, where you will change into a surgical gown. A nurse will review your health history, obtain vital signs, and start an intravenous line. If necessary, minor blood tests and EKG may be performed. Anesthesia personnel will also consult with you at this time.
After surgery, you will be transferred to the recovery room, where our nursing staff will monitor you until you are awake, alert, and ready to go home.
Please make plans to have someone accompany you to the center and drive you home after your procedure. Although you will be alert and comfortable before you are discharged, you will not be allowed to leave Palms Wellington Surgical Center alone. A parent or legal guardian must accompany a minor undergoing a procedure.
